Writer Biography
Sarah Togher is an emerging writer and selectee for this year's Date with an Agent run as part of the International Literature Festival Dublin and in partnership with Writing.ie. She was an alumnus of the Irish Writers Centre National Mentoring Programme, 2022 - 2023, during which she worked on her novel-in-progress ‘Against the Tide’ with mentor and novelist, Lucy Caldwell.
In 2020, Togher was a recipient of an Arts Council Professional Development Award, used to hone her craft as a short story writer. She was a member of the Limerick based writers collective Writepace during the first Covid-19 pandemic lockdown. Her story Shelter was shortlisted for the Francis MacManus Short Story Competition and broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1 in 2018.
Togher holds a Masters degree in Women’s Studies (University of Limerick), and postgraduate qualifications in applied social and policy sciences (University of Ulster), all of which are put to use during her day job working for the Irish state.
Originally from the Erris Peninsula in north Mayo, Togher now lives by the River Shannon where her novel ‘Against the Tide’ is based.
